The veteran unemployment rate has steadily dropped since its all-time high of nearly 12% in April 2020, but as of March 2021, the veteran unemployment rate is still at 4.6%. Veteran advocates say it can be difficult to transition out of the military into the civilian job market.
Veterans transitioning out of active service offer skills and experiences that can be valuable in the civilian workforce, and NC is home to more veterans than almost any other state.
